THE OWNERS

AMY McQUILLAN

& PETE BEAUREGARD

The homeowners, Amy McQuillan and Pete Beauregard, began this project with the goal of building a house that could be an example for Southern California in terms of what’s possible for the region in green building. As such, from the start, the owners noted this would be a case study and demonstration project, though it will also be the home they live in for many years to come. The homeowners brought aboard Andrew Wilt of Andrew Wilt Designs to design the home and Alliance Green Builders (AGB) to construct it. AGB then created the remainder of the team that would be vital to achieve the homeowners’ goal which included KNB Associates coordinating the right mix of products and systems that would work together throughout the home.

THE ARCHITECT

ANDY WILT

Andrew P. Wilt’s long established architectural and interior design career began in 1972 when he founded the Athena Studio and Gallery in Encinitas, Calif. Representing local artists and craftsmen, he designed and made one-of-a-kind furniture, architectural items, light fixtures and decorative flat glass panels. Athena Studio evolved into Andrew Wilt Designs and provided interior design services, in addition to furniture design and fabrication. In 1984, Wilt joined a prominent local architect and developer, Stephen W. Adams, on his design and development team eventually becoming Adams Design Associates. For more than 27 years Wilt’s management and design talents were utilized in hundreds of projects. After Adams passed away in 2012, Wilt recreated Andrew Wilt Designs to carry on the work and vision of Adams Design.
